Channel Nine Underhanded?

When the PM Mr. Howard agreed to a debate he did so on the condition that the 'worm' was not used. The live "worm" is a graph monitoring the reactions of a group swing voters. Channel nine decided to run the debate and the live worm, but because it contravened Howard's wishes they had their feed cut twice before they could hook up a signal to Sky News.

Nine's news chief John Westacott was pretty upset at the news feed being cut calling it an "outrageous act of censorship". He admits that, "we were asked not to use the worm, that's correct, and we didn't agree with any of the conditions that were laid down by the press club."

All the same knowing the conditions and flouting them was pretty childish if you asked me and as far as I was concerned the worm was pretty bloody useless and detracted from the debate. If I had known the debate was on channel 2 I would have changed the station.

Politicians Are A Pain In The Proverbial!

Damn these politicians who make up the rules, get caught out and then back peddle to try and get themselves out of the shit they buried themselves in. One situation that comes to mind is our Water Minister who asked Ausies to dob their neighbour in if they broke the level 3 water restrictions. Of course the wanker got caught out and now they are calling foul. Some labor pollies are even suggesting it was a setup. Others are saying we should first talk to our neighbous and then dob em in. You would figure they would be the ones setting the example.

I tell ya you got to hand it to em, as there always seems to be one rule for the pollies and another for everyone else.

SA Labor Loses Control Of Budget

The spending capacity of the Labor Government never ceases to amaze me. This year the SA State Government had planned to employ some 400 public servents, yet the figure actually blew out to 1500! No wonder the mid year budget review shows cost blowing out by $4 million a day.

Where originally it had a surplus of $91 million the Government now predicts a surplus of oly %9 million dollars. This with all the extra revenue coming from collecting the GST as well. It seems that those in power think they have an unlimited supply of money on tap so they do not worry about over expenditure. It's too bad that they do not run the State in the same manner as executives run a profitable business.
